Kevin Newman - Lead Guide

Being a guide has given me the opportunity to share my passion and enthusiasm with people from all over the world and inspire others to look at this beautiful planet from a different perspective.

I started teaching at a very young age, working with several zoos, camps and schools mostly around the New York metropolitan area. My family operated a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation organization that gave me the chance to work with an array of wild animals. Today I continue following that dream in the beautiful state of Arizona.

Over the years I have worked as an adventure guide, a Sonoran Desert guide and an off-road guide for several tour companies including AZOF, AZ Hummer Tours, Stellar Adventures and Journey Arizona. Throughout my adventures I have accumulated over 200 "5 -star" reviews on TripAdvisor and I have led groups from just a 1 person tour looking for a quick escape to the desert, to an over 100 person tour on corporate events through several Destination Management Companies and I even guided several Pro Sports teams including the Phoenix Suns and Detroit Redwings.

My tours focus on bringing the desert to life, as an avid survivalist and naturalist. Not only will you learn what plants may save your life but I want to to give you an up close and personal experience with the Sonoran Desert like you've never experienced before. From Tarantulas the size of your hand to catching the deadliest snakes in North America you can feel safe and confident in me as your guide as I take you on a Journey unlike anything you have seen.

All Journey Arizona Tours Include...
  • Commentary about desert flora, fauna, history of native cultures and geology from a knowledgable guide

  • A great workout, a relaxing ride or a little of both

  • Water bottle, snacks and photos
